RussianHackApparently the Russians really want Donald Trump to be the next President of the United States.

The FBI, in tandem with other US security agencies, are investigating a number of security breaches that appear to be targeting the DNC, as well as certain news organizations, such as The New York Times.

Email services for The Times are outsourced to Google, and as Times spokeswoman Eileen Murphy has pointed out, there is currently no evidence that their internal systems have been hacked. It appears that their reporters, thus far, have merely been targeted, as detected by their cyber monitoring systems.

US intelligence reports that this is just one facet of a much broader attack by Russian spy agencies to hack into the US political system. News organization emails could potentially be a treasure trove of information and contacts for the Russian government who recently leaked DNC emails to Wikileaks in an apparent attempt to aid Donald Trump’s win as the next American President.

The intrusions, detected in recent months, are under investigation by the FBI and other US security agencies. Investigators so far believe that Russian intelligence is likely behind the attacks and that Russian hackers are targeting news organizations as part of a broader series of hacks that also have focused on Democratic Party organizations, the officials said.
