Deloitte, one of the largest accounting firms in the world, announced a data breach that they say didn’t have much of an impact, most seem to think they’re downplaying the incident.

According to Deloitte, only six of their clients had their data stolen. They say they were able to research the hack and determine that “no disruption has occurred to client businesses, to Deloitte’s ability to continue to serve clients, or to consumers.”

That said, one anonymous source said Deloitte discovered the breach in March, but that it had been going on for five or six months prior to that discovery. Some employees voice suspicion that a company email telling employees to reset their passwords and PINs sent in the middle of October may have been a reaction to suspicions of a hack.

Further, investigators reportedly found that hackers had been on the servers with access to all kinds of company accounts and that gigs of data had been loaded onto a foreign server. The total amount of data stolen remains unknown.

Ironically, Deloitte also has a worldwide top ranking cybersecurity consulting arm that advises companies on cybersecurity practices. The previously-mentioned source said that division was never notified about the breach.
