PBX - Private Branch Exchange
PBX stands for Private Branch Exchange, though sometimes it is referred to as PABX (private automatic branch exchange), EPABX (electronic private automatic branch exchange) or CBX (computerized branch exchange).
A PBX is a private telephone network used within a business or organization, as opposed to a regular telephone carrier. PBX users share a number of outside lines to make phone calls externally to the BBX. Companies use PBX because it is much cheaper than connecting a separate telephone line to each separate phone.
